AMD Threadripper 3970x Build Tutorial - Assembly and Smoke Test!
This step, in the Build process, gets Us into the Corsair 750D Airflow Case. From Motherboard to the final Smoke test! We'll install the Motherboard, Gigabyte TRX40 Designare Threadripper 3970x CPU into the Case and Mount. Install the Super Flower Gold 1300 watt PSU and mount the EVGA TRX 2080Ti Black Video card.
For this initial test, we're only using half the RAM, still 4 Channels for 128GBs RAM. Why only half? Build out the foundation with minimum Components. Why 128GBs? And why 256GBs RAM? At 128GBs, this is the most RAM we've ever installed in a Computer. Since the x399s were so problematic with volumes of RAM, we're testing to see if that RAM compatibility problem is now history. Five years ago, we topped out at 32 GBs RAM. We've come a long way. Once we've established our baseline foundation, then we'll updates the Bios and install the rest of the RAM for Full Capacity.

A Bios Update, then add another 128 GBs RAM plus... We still have the Add In cards (AICs) to install. The NVMe Quad card, PCIe 4.0 and the Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 card, PCIe 3.0. Both separate Videos. We're being very deliberate and methodical in our approach to this new Platform to insure a successful Build.
We hope You find this Build Tutorial helpful. If there's something You'd like to see covered, that we have not, please let Us know. We're Q&A driven. We're here to help!
Once this Project is complete, we'll show You how we use this with Audio and Video. Thumbs Up would be Appreciated. Please Subscribe! Thanks for Watching! There's much more to come! Stay tuned!
