National Hurricane Center (NHC) has begun issuing daily tropical weather outlooks for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. The season officially runs June 1–Nov 30, but outlooks started mid-May to align with the eastern Pacific season. Forecasters will issue updates four times daily (2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m., 8 p.m.) detailing disturbances across the basin. No tropical development is expected in the next seven days. Changes this season include an updated forecast cone that now includes inland watches and warnings for the continental U.S., Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with diagonal pink blue lines for simultaneous hurricane watches and tropical storm warnings. The 5-day cone uses a single shading. The Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook will show a gray “X” for disturbances with little-to-no development, yellow “X” for low but non-zero chances. NHC is also launching a more mobile-friendly website. 10 Tampa Bay will monitor updates.
