Misty

Moving on to another solo piece, this time featuring our Principal Cornet, Alison Smart.

‘Misty’ was written in 1954 by the jazz pianist Errol Garner, but went on to become the signature song of Johnny Mathis. It’s a popular number which has been covered many times by a variety of artists, and has also been arranged for brass band more than one - I know there is a version for Eb soprano cornet, one for trombone and the one we will play for you now.

….the arrangement for Bb cornet by Darrol Barry, prolific band composer who is currently working as the Resident Composer and Arranger to the Sultanate of Oman.
