Canada Nickel Company Inc. is a Canadian exploration company focused on its flagship asset, the Crawford Nickel Sulphide project, located in the Timmins mining camp, Canada. The project is a bulk tonnage opportunity with mineralisation similar to the Dumont Nickel Deposit.

The company released an updated mineral resource estimate for its Crawford Nickel Sulphide project on the 6th of July 2022. The updated mineral resource estimate is based on 56,286 m of drilling consisting of 113 drill holes and implements a 0.15% Nickel cut-off grade. The updated mineral resource estimate shows the project’s measured and indicated resources more than double to 1.43 billion tons of Nickel mineralisation at a grade of 0.24% nickel and also shows 0.67 billion tons of mineralisation at a grade of 0.23% nickel in the inferred category. The updated mineral resource estimate will be implemented towards an updated feasibility study scheduled to be released in Q4 2022.

The company announced the results of a laboratory test program for a new method of accelerated carbon capture on the 20th of July 2022. The company believes that the new method of carbon capture, In Process Tailings Carbonation, holds transformative potential. The results show that the accelerated carbon capture process could allow the Crawford project’s tailings to absorb enough CO2 to achieve net zero carbon emissions within 36 hours, and generate up to 21 tons of CO2 credits per ton of nickel produced within just six days. This is in contrast to multiple months involved in existing passive tailings approaches. The technology will translate into 710,000 tons of CO2 credits per year and 18 million tons of CO2 credits over the preliminary life of mine.
