Former Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick Honored in Capitol Rotunda | LIVE

CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS HONOR LATE CAPITOL POLICE OFFICER: Members of Congress gather in the Rotunda to honor former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick. His remains rest in an urn at the center of the Rotunda, next to a folded American flag. Sicknick died of injuries he suffered after being hit in the head with a fire extinguisher during the domestic terrorist attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Seven people have died as a result of the attacks, including three law enforcement members. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi are both expected to deliver remarks. Sicknick is the fifth person who is not a government or military official to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda. The others include two members of the U.S. Capitol Police force, Officer Jacob Chestnut and Detective John Gibson in 1998, Rosa Parks in 2005, and Rev. Billy Graham in 2018.
