On November 15, 2022, during a law enforcement search in Oklahoma City, Officer Elisa McCoy was inspecting the underside of the trailer and uncovering the mattress when the wanted criminal Timothy Johnson suddenly opened fire at the officers. The two officers immediately evacuated to seek cover, while Officer Cody Rogers remained in the trailer and returned fire. After the gunfire suppressed Johnson, the two evacuated officers returned to the trailer to prepare for the arrest, but Johnson refused to cooperate and opened fire again. Subsequently, Officer Rogers used a rifle to shoot at the mattress and hit Johnson. In the second round of fire, Officer David Mercer was hit in the face by Johnson. After seeing that the suspect showed no response, Officer McCoy asked her injured colleague to return to the police car for emergency treatment, while she remained on guard in the trailer. About 10 minutes later, the SWAT team arrived at the scene and found that Johnson was dead. The trailer owner Jennifer Garner was immediately arrested by the police, and on April 12, 2024, the Cleveland County jury convicted her of second-degree murder and harboring an escaped criminal, and ultimately sentenced her to 15 years in prison.
