De paseo por Madrid: calle Huertas / Barrio de Las Letras

Fue un bonito día soleado de principio de otoño

La calle Huertas se localiza en el barrio de Las Letras, que es un área dentro del barrio de Cortes, en el distrito Centro. La calle se llama así por las huertas que había hace siglos que pertenecían a familias de alto linaje y a la Iglesia.

A día de hoy, la calle es conocida por ser un referente en cuanto a ocio se refiere, ya que prácticamente todos sus locales están ocupados por bares, restaurantes y discotecas, aunque también se pueden encontrar otros establecimientos como galerías de arte y tiendas de libros antiguos.

Gracias a su peatonalización a principios del siglo XXI podemos pasear mientras leemos los pasajes de obras literarias de distintos escritores y poetas españoles que se encuentran grabados en la acera, así como admirar el Palacio de los Duques de Santoña y el Palacio de Molins, que actualmente alberga la Real Academia de la Historia

It was a beautiful early fall sunny day!

Huertas Street is located in the Las Letras neighborhood, which is an area within the Cortes neighborhood, in the Centro district. The street is named after the orchards that belonged centuries ago to families of high lineage and to the Church.

To this day, the street is known for being a reference in terms of leisure, since practically all its premises are occupied by bars, restaurants and clubs, although you can also find other establishments such as art galleries and antique book shops.

Thanks to its pedestrianization at the beginning of the 21st century we can stroll while reading the passages of literary works of different Spanish writers and poets that are engraved on the sidewalk, as well as admire the Palace of the Dukes of Santoña and the Palace of Molins, which currently houses the Royal Academy of History.
