Introducing the Transatlantic Barometer
The Bertelsmann Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its newest digital platform, the Transatlantic Barometer. In order to see how the site functions in practice, check out this introductory animation! Access the site here: https://www.transatlanticbarometer.org/national-defense-spending
There is no closer geopolitical relationship than the transatlantic alliance. Yet, it is often difficult to know how individual actors are engaging on important issues impacting the larger community. With that challenge in mind, the Bertelsmann Foundation has developed the Transatlantic Barometer, an interactive digital platform that provides up-to-date information on the most pressing issues impacting the transatlantic relationship. The project team regularly highlights a topic impacting 30 transatlantic actors: the U.S., the UK, the EU and its 27 individual member states. The Barometer provides users with a snapshot overview of how each actor is engaging on the featured topics.
In the lead-up to International Day of Democracy on September 15, the Bertelsmann Foundation has partnered with the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Sustainable Governance Indicators (SGI) team to release three new democracy-related topics adapted from the SGI 2022 report: voting and registration rights, media freedom, and corruption prevention. As global democratic backsliding continues to challenge the common values espoused by the transatlantic community, the Barometer seeks to showcase how individual actors are addressing this trend.
