Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports & Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence

SYPNOSIS :
The challenges to building an inclusive society are rarely straightforward. To resolve these challenges, policy-makers must go beyond broad prescriptions about the role of the governments -- which often revolves around wealth redistribution and safety nets for the less fortunate -- to think deeper about both the nature of the problem and consequences of government interventions. In this session, Acting Minister Chan Chun Sing will share his approach to social challenges and relate personal insights that he has gleaned during his term in the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. Drawn from his reflections on the realities of the policy-making process, these lessons will be of interest to policy makers, community leaders, academics, students of public policy, and anyone who is keen to understand the complexities of policy making.
