Leica 42.5 1.2 Nocticron vs Lumix 42.5 1.7
Which lens is best, and which is right for you?

One of the best parts of working in a Micro 4/3's camera format is that there are an abundance of lenses to choose from in a variety of prices points. Two of my favorite lenses at the Leica 42.5 1.2 and the Lumix 42.5 1.7, but for entirely different reasons.

On the surface these two lenses look entirely different, but in terms of clarity they are very much the same. To see how they are different you have to dive a little deeper than what is obvious. When I want to be traveling light I definitely turn to the Lumix 42.5 1.7, and when I need that extra stop of light, or to be a little more precise as pointed out by one of my viewers 3/4 of a stop, I turn to the Leica 42.5 1.2.

There is also a difference in the look of the Bokeh with each of these lenses, and although it's all about personal preference, the Leica is my favorite of the two in that regard. Which ever you choose, I have no doubt you will love the results as both are incredibly sharp.

If budget is no object, I would turn to the Leica for professional product or people work as a photographer or a filmmaker. However, if I am a street or travel photographer I'd probably go with the Lumix version.
