A fishing trip I made in 2008 at the Kong Kong River, Malaysia. This is a fishing paradise that is frequent by anglers from many places including Singapore.

A boating trip that was arranged by my hometown buddy, a small raft aka sampan was rented. We set off in the early morning and got some 500 grams of live prawns as bait.

The first fishing spot was at a reef area somewhere near to the Tekong Island of Singapore. Not for long we landed our first catch of the day, it was a Queenfish. A Marked Snapper was hooked up and some other smaller sizes as well.

We headed for our lunch at a Malay Eatery by the riverbank, after the meal we headed in towards the mangrove area.

We went to a Indigenous Malay Village on the river and some live crabs were brought, those were for our dinner later.

We reached our next spot, the Mangrove zone. Here many species can be found, namely Barramundi, Snapper, Grouper and so on.

We shifted a few places and eventually our fishing guide cum boatman, Xiao Lee told us it's time to head for the river mouth. According to him the tide is retreating and the big fishes will follow the current returning back to the deep sea.

We standby near the river mouth and we did hook up a fish, but.... It broke free!

After that incident we did not managed to get anymore fish and we decided to call it a day. Although not many fishes were caught but it was a great place and a great day out with old friends.
