Because the fact that historic centre is surrounded by city walls, Lucca has managed to preserve its heritage in a quite good shape.

All over this medieval city you’ll find monuments representing all the various historical era Lucca has lived through. Walking around Lucca is like traveling back in time. You really have to experience it.
