Winter Camping at -25°C: Ice Fishing for Burbot
It's currently mid June in the Yukon, and the weather is nice and warm. In January of 2021 however... well, it wasn't.
Check out this video to see a winter camping adventure we did a few years back in search of some delicious, bottom feeding fish called burbot. We skied out on 4 feet of solid ice, and spent the night in a 3 season tent, with temperatures dropping below -25°C before wind chill. It was not a warm one.
The fishing wasn't very productive, but we came away with enough catch to cook up a feed of burbot and eggs over the open fire. Proper thing!
