Iranian Nomad Life: Helping to Complete a Mother's Mountain Shelter

In this segment of our journey with Mina, the brave nomadic mother, we witness her and her dear son Kourosh's relentless efforts to build a safe shelter in the heart of the mountains. Today, with the help of a kind cameraman, water and supplies reach Mina, and the work on cementing the floor of the shelter begins earnestly.

With Kourosh's capable hands and Mina's determination, the mountain sand is sifted and mixed with cement to prepare a sturdy concrete for the shelter's floor. Kourosh's construction skills in these harsh conditions provide a glimmer of hope for Mina in this challenging journey. Despite a bothersome rock on the floor, they do not give up and continue cementing with perseverance.

Meanwhile, with a mother’s love, Mina prepares a delicious tomato rice dish for dinner. The work continues late into the night under the light of the solar panel projector, and finally, the fatigue is lifted by the delightful taste of dinner in the mountains.

After facing numerous challenges with her ex-husband and her mother-in-law's illness, Mina found herself in dire poverty and hardship. Fearing separation from her only daughter, Sanaz, she made a difficult decision and had no choice but to seek refuge in the mountains among the nomadic people. Now, alone and relying on her strong will, she is building a safe and warm shelter in this cold mountain for herself and her beloved child; an effort to create a better future from the depths of hardship. This story is an example of the struggle for life and survival in nature with empty hands.
