Odisha continues to reel under a severe heatwave with Jharsuguda recording a high of 43.6°C, followed by Rourkela and Sambalpur at 43°C. However, the Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted a significant change in weather after the next 48 hours. A Yellow Alert for Kalabaisakhi (thunderstorms) has been issued until May 2 across the state. While daytime temperatures will remain high, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected to provide much-needed relief from the humid conditions. Major cities like Bhubaneswar and Balasore are also likely to experience light to moderate rainfall during this period.
