Pennsylvania Off-road Paradise! | AOAA is an East Coast Must.

Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA), is it becoming the next Hatfield McCoy? They are certainly working towards making the AOAA trails in PA one of the biggest, baddest off road areas in the Country, can they do it?

We recently had the privilege of visiting the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, a place to ride who has a goal of being the next Hatfield McCoy. Now, not being from the area I reached out to two buddies that knew it well (You can find them on Instagram as mud_shark_offroad & the_mudfreak). So We got the trip all set up and decided to meet up at the trailhead for a cold day of December riding.

As I drove through PA and the Appellation Mountains I had to admire how beautiful just the drive in was. And as I got close the signs of the off-road lifestyle made it evident that fun was just around the corner. As I pulled in to the AOAA I was amazed at how much bigger the area was than I expected it to be. The great thing is, they have it pretty streamlined as you arrive. Signing in and paying was quick and easy (even with the area being rather busy), and I was unloading my Polaris Scrambler and getting ready to ride in no time.

Just as I finished getting my Scrammy unloaded I notice @Mud_shark_offroad & @the_mudfreak heading my way. We B.S. for a few minutes and take off for the fun. I was immediately enjoying myself as we moved away from the trailhead. It took no time at all before it felt like we were deep in the woods and riding the hills, the trailhead, and all the other people there quickly became a fading memory. I bring that up to point out, even when there are a large number of people out riding this area, it is so vast that once you start to ride and take loops and turns, you would have no idea how many people are out there because you don't see them too often.

So a few minutes in and we were already hitting mud holes and narrow trails. One great thing about this area is that it has trail types for all types of riders. You have narrow twisty trails for ATV's, wider faster trails for side by sides, you have hills, you have gravel roads, you have mud, I mean I could go on and on. I don't say this often, but this is one of those unique areas that will have a riding environment for pretty much every type of rider.

"Ok yea I get it it's an awesome trail system, but can it really be compared to Hatfield McCoy as you suggested"? Well if you are asking me at the time of this article, I would say no. It is not the next Hatfield McCoy. However, that is one of their goals. That is not such a wild fantasy either. I had the Privilege of talking with Dave, who is the Director of Operations for the AOAA and he had a lot to say! They have a lot on their plate right now as they are working on many different ideas to make the area better than it already is. This includes lodging concepts, more trails, more amenities, and if that's not enough...they are working on making ATVs and side by sides street legal in the area so people can ride into town directly from the trails.

Alright, so I am going to leave it at that. This is not a sponsored ad and we are not being paid by the AOAA. I just wanted to take a few minutes to let riders know about the area because quite frankly we were really impressed with it and excited to see what the future holds there. So let me just leave you with this, if you ever have the opportunity to check this place out and spend some time riding there I think you will have some fun and make some memories.

If you have any thoughts or comments on this video or the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area we would love to hear them below! Thanks for taking the time to watch our videos, it is very much appreciated.
