VIPA 2025: String Quartet No.2 "Babylon" - Arno Melkonyan, performed by Mivos Quartet

This is my 2nd String Quartet(the full recording of String Quartet No.1: Introspection coming soon). The quartet is based on the story of the Tower of Babel, as the tower keeps getting built higher and higher till God decides to mix the people's spoken language to into multiple languages to make it so that they can no longer understand each other, collaborate and by extension keep building the tower. In addition to this story as inspiration, given that this story is based in Mesopotamia which would be in the modern day middle east, I drew from eastern harmonies as well as my own Armenian background.

In retrospect, there is a very distinct Spanish sound to this quartet which was a happy coincidence given that it was performed in Valencia, Spain.

The quartet was performed as part of the @vipafestival913(Valencia Internation Performing Arts Festival) 2025 July 11th 2025 by the wonderful @mivosquartet and the audio was mixed by @EmmanuelBerridoMusic.
