Easy Step By Step Soft Roti Recipe For Beginners / Chapati / Indian Flat Bread (Fiji Indian Style)
Ingredients:
• 2 cups plain flour
• 1 cup hot boiling water
• 2 tbsp oil
• ½ tsp salt
• 4 tbsp butter
Method:
1. Take flour in a bowl.
2. Add salt and oil and mix well.
3. Add all the water and mix with a spoon till the dough starts to come together.
4. Puts some oil in your palm.
5. Knead the dough with your hands to make a soft ball.
6. Roll into a log and break into golf ball size pieces.
7. Flatten the balls into round disks.
8. Dip in dry flour and roll until nice and thin.
9. Heat up a fry pan or griddle (tawa).
10. Put your roti on, wait for the bubbles to appear, flip it over and cook it for a few seconds until the roti starts to puff up.
11. With the help of a tea towel press the roti in the middle lightly, wait for a few seconds and start pressing at the edges until the whole roti is puffy. Flip it over , cook it for a few more seconds before taking it out on a plate.
10. Put butter, oil or ghee on both sides after its cooked.
11. Enjoy.
Tip:
Depending on the size of the balls, you can make 10 to 12 rotis.
Left over roti can be wrapped in a foil or plastic wrap and kept in the fridge for up to 5 days.
To warm the rotis , take the required amount out and warm it for 20 seconds for each roti or in the fry pan.
