This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Mary Beth Minton is the Co-Founder and CEO of Zylie & Friends, an innovative children’s toy company with the mission of inspiring kids to get off the couch and into the world of adventure and play as a means of building their creative confidence. Mary Beth founded Zylie & Friends in 2010 with her son, Matt McCarty, and the two have built the brand into a collection of award-winning products and books that includes a co-branded line with FAO Schwarz that is carried in over 600 Toys”R”Us stores. Her products have been featured on the TODAY Show, in the Wall Street Journal, and on QVC. Before founding Zylie & Friends, Mary Beth was the Executive Director of the Red Ribbon Foundation. She got her MBA from Wharton Business School and currently lives in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City where she is constantly thinking up new projects to try and inspire children to give creativity a go.
