Government to legislate tax changes to fund housing plans
The Greens and crossbench have caved on key legislation the Albanese government put forward in the last 17 months after several concessions were gained.
“Such as with the Housing Future Fund deal that saw the government commit extra money for housing, it means the agenda of this government skews more to the left,” said Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“So, what will the government have to give away to get its important revenue measures through this year in pursuit of another budget surplus?”
One of the introductions is the PRRT tax changes – worth $2.4 billion over four years.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers released his draft legislation to get superannuation tax changes for those with a balance of more than $3 million through.
