Caldor Fire Jumps Highway 50 and Forces Evacuations in South Lake Tahoe CA

On August 30th, 2021, at around 4:30PM, flames from the Caldor Fire jumped Highway 50 and pushed down towards Meyers. Winds were able to push the fire back into itself but also carry enough embers to start a new spot fire off Highway 89. Eventually when winds began to die down the fire continued down towards Meyers threatening multiple homes while the spot fire off Highway 89 was making large runs towards downtown Meyers. Both the spot and main portion of fire began to slow together, one thing in favor for the firefighters and citizens of Meyers.
