100 Years of Beauty - Hong Kong (The Story)

I had no idea how difficult it was to summarize 100 years of history until I started working on this story. In the end, I decided to focus on the changing roles of women in this story about Hong Kong beauty.

I never had much connection with Hong Kong and left Hong Kong during my teens. When I saw Karolina Zebrowska's video on 100 Years of Beauty in Poland, I wish there was someone telling the story of Hong Kong Women so I spent the next 3 months researching for this.

Like Karolina's video, 2020s is left blank but for different reasons. There are waves of immigrations and I hope those who left Hong Kong in their childhood could find resources like this to help them understand what Hong Kong was, to understand what Hong Kong is from women's role. This uniqueness of where the West meets the East is magical, it was amazing for those of us to have experienced it in our own ways and I hope you had or will have a chance to experience it too (no matter where you are from).

My boyfriend Walter and I spent many nights watching old Hong Kong movies and shows. It was the fun part of this process but also a very emotional part. Hong Kong is a place that changes faster than anywhere else. I never thought the idea of Home will be lost because it's been changing faster than I can recognize it. I hope I can give you a sense of living through different times again in this video.
