Linux LVM Setup Guide for Beginners - 2

Running out of disk space is one of the most frustrating problems in Linux administration — but LVM (Logical Volume Manager) gives you a way to pool multiple disks together and expand storage on the fly, without reformatting or losing data.

In this video, I'll walk you through a complete LVM setup from scratch: initializing physical volumes, creating a volume group, carving out a logical volume, formatting it, making it persist across reboots via /etc/fstab — and then expanding the whole thing by adding new disks later.
What you'll learn:

How to set up LVM on a fresh disk step by step
How to add new disks to an existing volume group
How to extend a logical volume and resize the filesystem safely

🔧 Commands covered: pvcreate, pvs, vgcreate, vgs, lvcreate, lvs, mkfs.ext4, mount, blkid, /etc/fstab, vgextend, lvextend, e2fsck, resize2fs

Whether you're managing a homelab, a NAS, or a production server — LVM is a skill every Linux admin needs.
