Caring for Sophie

As part of #ChildrensHospiceWeek 2023, organised by Together for Short Lives, we are sharing Stephen and Sophie’s story.

Stephen’s daughter, Sophie, 14, has been coming for short breaks at St Oswald’s Hospice Children and Young Adults Service since 2016.

In our second video, Stephen talks about Sophie’s severe cerebral palsy and epilepsy, her medical needs and her care challenges as she gets older.

He is joined by key members of Sophie’s St Oswald’s Hospice’s specialist care team – Physiotherapist, Laura Allmark and Junior Sister, Georgia Whitley.
