Ding Liren Is Back! — Crushing Win in the Caro-Kann

Featured is an instructive chess game between Chen Qi b (2484) and Ding Liren (2734) from the 2026 Chinese Team Chess Championship. This game marks Ding's first classical game in over 16 months, and his weapon of choice is the Caro-Kann. Chen opts for the Advance, meeting ...Bf5 with 4.h4, the Tal variation. By move 11 we have a minor piece imbalance, with Ding possessing the unopposed dark squared bishop. The dark square pressure Ding applied shortly thereafter, particularly on e5, led to the quick collapse of Chen's position.
