Top 5 Oklahoma Big 12 Championship Moments | #1 – Tre Brown Sacks Sam Ehlinger For A Safety
Oklahoma turned failure into fortune to close out Texas in a revenge match for the 2018 Big 12 championship when a turnover set up the biggest defensive play of the season.
Clinging to a 30-27 lead in the fourth quarter, Kyle Murray found CeeDee Lamb on a 56-yard pass that gave the appearance of becoming a backbreaking touchdown. However, Texas' Gary Johnson forced a fumble on the play and it was recovered by defensive backfield teammate Brandon Jones at the Texas 8-yard line.
Suddenly with life, and a desire to complete the sweep of Oklahoma, the Longhorn offense took the field with the momentum swinging their way. That momentum swing didn't last long though and Sooner cornerback Tre Brown blasted Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger on a blitz resulting in a safety.
The Sooners then scored a touchdown, on the possession that immediately followed Brown's safety sack, when Murray found Grant Calcaterra on a play that also made our Top 5.
Texas went from being down by three points and having the ball to being down by twelve points and firmly in desperation mode in a matter of just seven minutes. The Longhorns only got the ball back one other time after the safety and that drive ended with a Tre Norwood interception as the Sooners walked off the field with a 39-27 win.
