Prayer 101-1

I. Introduction

A. Happy Birthday!!!
1. We are taught the concept of prayer from the day we were born on this Earth.
2. Even as early as conception we learn to pray.
3. Life in general is taught this concept.

B. Philippians 4:6
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

C. El Shaddai, God Almighty (Gen 17)
1. “The All-Sufficient One,"
2. “The God who is more than enough."
3. “El Shadday” I Am the God of many breasts. Gen 17:1 (in the break down of the name).
4. El Shaddai is the all sufficient one like a mother to a child. The supplier. The source.
5. Ephesians 3:20, “'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” NKJV
6. AMP, “'Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,”

D. The New Born
1. As a child on it’s day of birth it will cry due to hunger pains, it makes a request to it’s mother to fulfill it’s needs. Like Ph 4:6 “Be careful for nothing…let your request be made known…”
2. A new born has it’s sources available.
3. A new born must learn to draw from that source in order to survive.
4. If a new born does not learn to draw from the source it will suffer from malnourishment and die.
5. It cannot survive on it’s own.

E. From that moment on, you are taught to seek, or request, your parents to meet your needs.
1. For your entire life, you have looked to your parents for a need.
2. Even into adulthood there is a need in our lives for our parents.
3. After their death, we still draw on the source of their wisdom we learned, and pay it forward.
4. Why do people suffer in life? They are not drawing from the source.

F. Prayer is communication, and a drawing of the source of life, with our Heavenly parent.
