তালা খুললেই যাবে পালিয়ে; মা-বাবা তাই আটকে রাখেন শিকলে
ঘরের দরজায়, সিড়িতে বসা এই যুবক। পায়ে লোহার শিকল, বাঁধা খুঁটির সাথে। এভাবেই দিন কাটে তার। সব মিলিয়ে সকাল থেকে বিকেল পুরো সময়টাই তাঁর আটকে এখানে। গায়ে ধুলো, মুখ দিয়ে ঝরছে লালা। বাড়িতে কেউ আসলেই ফ্যালফ্যাল করে থাকে তাকিয়ে। ছুটে যেতে চায় তাঁর কাছে।
মাথা ঘুরিয়ে কখনো তাকায় ঘরের ভেতর, কখনোবা আঙিনায়। যেন বোঝার চেষ্টা করে, কে কোথায় আছে। হাতদুটো বুকের কাছে জড়ানো, মুখে এক চিলতে হাসি। যে হাসির আড়ালে হাজারো কষ্ট আছে লুকিয়ে।
দুই বছর বয়সে বাতজ্বরে আক্রান্ত হয়ে অভাবের টানাটানিতে ঠিকমতো করা যায়নি চিকিৎসা। সেই থেকে শুধু বয়সই তাঁর বেড়েছে বুদ্ধি রয়ে গেছে সেখানেই। হারিয়ে যাবার ভয়ে বেঁধে রাখা হয় শিকলে। তাই চাইলে সে যেতে পারে না এখানে সেখানে।
মা এগিয়ে আসে হাতে দেয় খাবারের থালা। সাথে সাথে হাসি ফুটে ওঠে মুখে। মা–বাবা দু’জন মিলেই চেষ্টা করেন খাওয়ানোর। কারণ সে নিজে পারে না খেতে। হাঁটানোর জন্য নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় উঠোনের পাশের ধানের গাদা আর গাছপালার কাছে। হাতে ধরে রাখেন মা, যাতে পড়ে না যায় সে। কিন্তু সেখানেও বাঁধা থাকে শিকল। এটাই তাঁর আটকে থাকা জীবন।
এই দৃশ্য গাজীপুরের ধামরাইয়ের কুল্লা ইউনিয়নের নওগাঁও কাইত গ্রামের। এখানেই জন্ম মোহর আলীর। অসুখ হলেও দারিদ্র্যের কারণে হয়নি চিকিৎসা। আর সেই কষ্ট আজও বহন করছে পরিবার।
