In today’s review, I’m talking about We Can Never Leave This Place by Eric LaRocca, a bleak and emotionally disturbing horror novel that leans heavily into psychological dread, trauma, and toxic attachment.

I picked this one up because of the hype surrounding LaRocca’s work in modern horror, but I had very specific expectations going in — especially considering how heavily his books are discussed in horror spaces online.

If you’ve read this book, I want to know whether it worked for you or not because I can already tell this is going to be one of those divisive horror novels people either deeply connect with or completely bounce off of.
