Brendan O'Neill on grooming gangs: there is a 'culture of moral cowardice' in our institutions.

This week, Home Office Minister Jess Phillips rejected Oldham Council’s request for a government-led inquiry into the horrific scandal of grooming gangs in dozens of UK cities. Her decision has led to real backlash – with Kemi Badenoch calling for a full national public inquiry, and even X owner Elon Musk waded in, calling on the King to dissolve parliament.

Why’s this reckoning happening now? Are concurrent governments to blame for the lack of accountability regarding the authorities? And, in worrying about demonising Muslims, have the authorities had the opposite effect and created a culture of dishonesty? Political correspondent James Heale is joined by Brendan O’Neill, chief political writer for Spiked and Spectator contributor.
