"How to Start a Global Movement" Jenny Sauer-Klein at Wanderlust's Speakeasy
“A movement starts from one person to one person.” – Jenny Sauer-Klein
In this speakeasy talk from Wanderlust Aspen-Snowmass 2014, Jenny Sauer-Klein, co-founder of AcroYoga, coach, and self-made entrepreneur, discusses what it takes to start and sustain a global movement.
When we’re young, we play. As we grow older, we play less. When we become adults, we play hardly at all. Where did our joy go? It was this question that inspired Jenny Sauer-Klein to rediscover the joy in her life and create a way to pass it on to others. As a practicing yogi, Jenny knew how yoga could help unite communities and inspire confidence, but she was looking for something more intimate; something that would connect people on a personal level. Using her background in circus arts, theater, and yoga, she co-founded the now global phenomenon of AcroYoga, a practice that combines aerial acrobatic moves with yoga, and one that takes incredible trust in your partner and confidence in yourself. As the number of her students grew, they asked for more. Workshops were created, teacher trainings began and AcroYoga grew on its own, one person at a time.
“When you give birth to a movement, something comes through, but it does not belong to you.” – Jenny Sauer-Klein
There are now thousands of AcroYogi’s around the world and Jenny’s dream of bringing joy into the lives of people has come to fruition. With this background and a firm understanding of what it takes to move an idea forward and release it into the world, Jenny founded The Movement Blueprint, which takes the principals of the AcroYoga movement and translates them into a business model with a global reach. Looking back at her success, Jenny never imagined AcroYoga would go this far, and it all began with the simple wish to fly.
