DSLR Film/ Cinematic Look Tutorial
*UPDATE: This video was made years ago and I have learned much since then. The "film look" cannot be simplified into something as basic as nailing your camera settings, but is rather a combination of many elements which all add up to the final overall aesthetic of the film. Though making sure you have the right camera settings is a start, as taught in this tutorial, I urge anybody reading this wanting to achieve the "film look" to look into lighting techniques, camera movement, colour correction, art direction and more. This video is flawed in several regards, though it still does serve as a basic introduction to camera settings and their impact on the overall visual aesthetic of a film.

This is a viewer requested video on how to achieve the "Film Look" using a DSLR. In this video, I show you the process using the Canon EOS Rebel T4i (Canon EOS 650D). I show you the steps to achieving a Film/ Cinematic Look from the beginning to the end, in detail. In the beginning I show you how to configure your DSLR's settings to achieve a flat image, which will better help you when you colour correct later on. I then show you how to actually film your subject. The final process is in post production where I show you how to colour correct in Sony Vegas Pro 10, wrapping the look all together.
There is a test video of this effect which can be found here (Film Look (CINEMATIC)- Canon EOS Rebel T4i)- http://youtu.be/LxsBKtZUmD4
This video was edited in Sony Vegas Pro 10 and is in 720p HD/ HQ.
