Outdoor VLOG 71: Lake Tahoe's March 1st Blizzard Experienced on a Pair of Backcountry XC Skis

I don't know that this blizzard (which made national headlines) produced the forecasted amount of snow. But it was intense just the same! So I met up with a friend on the other side of the neighborhood to go for a short backcountry cross-country skiing excursion in it because, well, I absolutely love being out in snowstorms!

Admittedly, this was one storm that I should've brought a pair of skiing goggles to wear on the downhill portion of the tour. The blustery whiteout conditions and the fact that the snow was pounding my eyeballs made for a very disorienting downhill experience. At one point, knowing that there weren't any obstacles in front of me, I just closed my eyes and let the snow guide me through a turn or two. To be honest, I might actually try this in the future because it felt divine (albeit only momentarily).

Anyway, there haven't been many (if any) days like this during the 2023/24 winter here at Lake Tahoe. So I wanted to make sure that I got out in it at least for a couple of hours.

Enjoy!

The backcountry xc skis that I used in this video were the Fischer S-Bound 112mm with Rottefella Super Tele bindings. I was wearing Alpina Alaska 75mm boots.
