How to calibrate your Sanwa M17
I frequently get asked, how often I change my radio. I usually try to get a new radio every year. The reason is simple. I race a lot, and to the majority of my races, I travel by air. Not only does the radio wear from use, but especially from travelling - as it gets banged around a lot. This usually means that overtime, the movement of the physical parts of the radio don't match the software. But this can mostly be fixed by doing a calibration of the throttle and steering input. In this video, I guide you through the process. Having a radio which hasn't been calibrated properly can lead to the following issues:
- The steering not being centered even though the wheel is in the center
- The wheel not giving true full lock when at full lock
- The throttle not being at a 100% full throttle. This may cause, for example, the turbo to not activate properly or consistently in the ESC.
Please note that there can be problems with the steering/throttle which can't be fixed by calibration! If you suspect that your servo or ESC movement isn't matching that of the transmitter, please send your transmitter in for repair and/or service!
