This episode of Crypto Scam Watch looks at some examples of phishing websites, specifically a copy of electrum.org as well as a copy of Ian Coleman's BIP39 mnemonic phrase tool. Both of these fake sites were hostile and created to steal your funds...

This video helps you see these examples so that you are better able to know what to look for, some tools to stay safe as well as some things that you can do you spot a scam.

⦁ Recently registered websites. Learn about WHOIS lookups...
⦁ Mispelled Domain Names or different domain suffix
How You Can Stay Safe...
⦁ Use a modern browser... (I'm using Brave, link in desciption)
⦁ Run anything that touches your 24 word seed in an air-gapped, amnesic environment
⦁ At the very least, run with your network disconnected. Running a standalone local file isn't enough
⦁ Understand how your wallets and websites generally work...
⦁ Understand that seeing a green padlock (secure site over HTTPS) doesn't mean anything other than communication between you and a website is encrypted, it doesn't mean anything about how trustworthy the site itself is...
⦁ Bookmark sites, don't just Google it...
⦁ Don't just click on links people send you in emails, private messages, etc
⦁ Get browser plugins (Though these won't help until someone reports it and it is accepted)
⦁ Netcraft
⦁ Metacert
⦁ Learn how to verify download signatures. (Will cover in future video)
