Ski mountaineering will make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games. Two disciplines will be featured: the sprint event and the mixed relay. In the sprint event, athletes will race over a short, varied course featuring an uphill section, a descent, and a section where they will carry their skis on their backs. In the mixed relay, one male and one female athlete will compete together as a team, completing two ascents and two descents.
