A57 Link Roads Project April 2026 Series 11 - construction taking shape

From Monday 22nd June, contractors are installing plant crossing on Mottram Moor, Roe Cross Road and Old Road.
Contractor vehicles will use these to move large volumes of earth and stone safely.
The crossings will operate Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the evening, with some weekend working.
Drivers can expect temporary traffic lights with holds of 60 to 90 seconds
Closures
The M67 junction 4 roundabout improvements will begin from 13th July to end of December 2026 on both carriageways. The closure will be overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday to Friday.
During this period drivers will be diverted to the A57 Mottram Road and can still travel through the roundabout which will be managed by temporary traffic lights.
Stockport Road will also close between the M67 junction 4 and Underwood Road overnight. Drivers will be diverted by Underwood Road to the A57.
Piling at Old Road and Woolley Bridge
From 13th July 2026, work piling to build Mottram Underpass and the River Etherow Bridge will begin Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with some weekend working.
Roe Cross Road overnight closure – w/c 13 July
During the week of Monday 13th July, Roe Cross Road will close overnight for one night so contractors can install and lift beams for Roe Cross Road bridge. The exact date will be confirmed once it's finalized.
During this period there will be diversions via Old Road.
