Spitfire BBCSO and Cinematic Studio Series, SIDE BY SIDE
I just treated myself with some new sample libraries and I'm loving them! I've had cinematic studio strings (aka CSS) for a while now and being the the massive nerd that I am, I couldn't tolerate not owing cinematic studio brass (or CSB) and Cinematic Studio Woodwinds (or CSSW) as well. Ouch, that was a rather costly little treat!
I thought it would be interesting to compare the full cinematic studio series (minus percussion of course) with Spitfire BBC Symphony orchestra that I've had and loved since its release. For that purpose I made a new mockup of my piece Closure, that I wrote in 2019 as an unofficial demo for Spitfire BBCSO. What we will be doing throughout the video is putting the 2 different versions side by side, listen to similarities and differences and talk about the good, the bad and the ugly. Spoiler alert, will be mostly about the good :)
0:00 setup
0:45 battle of the mockups
2:29 general thoughts
6:23 solo instruments, setting a vibe
9:13 repeated notes
11:48 dynamics, an homogenous sound
15:24 ease of use, final thought
18:47 the full mockup with css
21:14 thanks I'm out
