You can logically know you’re safe and still feel panic, anxiety, shutdown, emotional overwhelm, or fight-or-flight in your body.

As a trauma therapist, I see this all the time. Trauma responses happen fast because the nervous system reacts before the rational part of the brain fully comes online. A tone of voice, conflict, tension, or emotional stress can quickly push someone into survival mode without them fully understanding why.

Grounding techniques help reconnect the nervous system to the present moment instead of reacting entirely from past experiences or trauma triggers.
