The Emotional Story That Started The Global PAD Association
Global PAD Association founder Kym McNicholas shares the catalyst for starting the organization to help patients with Peripheral Artery Disease. This was during the PAD: The Lived African American Experience Conference in December where she was responding to Save Legs Change Lives Cardiologist Dr. Richard Brown, who was also sharing his passion for helping patients with a disease more prevalent and deadlier than most cancers, known as Peripheral Artery Disease. It's blocked arteries in mainly the legs that when left untreated can lead to heart attack, stroke, and/or amputation. African Americans have the highest risk of reaching advanced stages and amputation. This conference was designed to bring awareness to a life and limb-threatening problem that must be addressed.
