Leavenworth: Washington's Bavarian Town | Travel Vlog #47

Leavenworth is a unique Bavarian town hidden away in the middle of Washington state. Leavenworth was not always a Bavarian village with German heritage. However, in the 1960's when a railroad route was re-routed, the town was soon becoming a ghost town. The town's councilmen got together and noticed Leavenworth's unique mountains that resembled the Swiss Alps and features similar to the town of Bavaria. They made the bold choice to change the town's facade and German theming to attract tourists in hopes to revitalize the town, and it worked!

To this day, Leavenworth still boasts many events from Octoberfest to Christmas festival and all events year-round to attract those from nearby Seattle and visitors who want to indulge into the unique Bavarian heritage without actually going outside the country.

Leavenworth's Bavarian theme still holds true to this day and offers many great accommodations such as the Bavarian Lodge along with great places to eat. Rhein Haus is a great palce to eat some pretzels with beer-cheese dip along with some bratwurst and sauerkraut. There are also many great things like parks, hikes, and even many shops within the town to do. The town also offers skiing in an Alpine Village and alpine skiing in the winter time.

Leavenworth makes a great spot to stop in for a day or weekend trip. Today, I will give you a Leavenworth Tour and travel guide to what to do and see in this unique town.
