Scotsman Visits The Southern Region

Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways

In this video during our multi day visit to the southern region we were lucky to capture a mainline steam run during the week getting you guest it The National Railway Museum's A3 60103 Flying Scotsman working The Railway Touring Company's The Salisbury Flyer from London Paddington to Salisbury & return outward via Westbury & back via Southampton.

We start at Warminster as we see the A3 coast through just before the tight curve into the station.

Note the white cab roof as a few weeks prior to this trip Scotsman worked The Royal Train from York to Pickering & return with King Charles III on board in connection of The 50th Anniversary of The North Yorkshire Moors Railway in preservation.

We next capture the A3 at Salisbury the trip's destination as we see him getting serviced by his support crew of Ian Riley's who are looking after the A3 on behalf of the museum.

Which this gave us a chance to have a look round the engine at close quarters.

We end with the highlight while on the return run from Salisbury at Eastleigh the town were some of The Chief Michanical Engineer Oliver V.S. Bulleid's pacifics were built.

We see Scotsman racing through on the up fast line in fine fettle with 12 matching MK1 coaches & 47802 in tow on the rear in full sun while accelerating away from Southampton Central caz of a 20mph speed restriction on the A3 through the station.

This was a gamble as 5 minutes prior a stopper train to Romsey left platform 1 & cleared with time to spare to see the spectacular sight of the A3 coming through as he headed back to Paddington.
