Did General Patton Really Charge with Only a Walking Stick?
#shorts #history
There is a popular story that George S. Patton once charged enemy machine guns carrying only a walking stick. In reality, this story is probably confused with someone else. During the Meuse–Argonne Offensive, Patton did lead soldiers forward under heavy fire and was wounded in the fighting, which earned him a medal. However, records say he advanced behind tanks while organizing scattered infantry, not charging alone with a stick. Another famous officer sometimes mixed into this story is Theodore Roosevelt Jr., who bravely landed with the first wave during D-Day. #worldwar2 #ww2 #battle
