Roméo Dallaire says war in Sudan needs intervention

The U.N. says the war in Sudan has displaced more than 13 million people and more than 24 million people are facing acute hunger — nearly half the country’s population.

The Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces — a powerful paramilitary force — have fought for nearly three years.

The question posed to a panel of experts in Toronto on Wednesday: What is the world doing to stop it?

Former Canadian Lt-Gen. Roméo Dallaire — who was a UN force commander in Rwanda — says the situation requires military intervention to stop it.
