Gyromitra (false morel) delicacy or poison. Where to find and how to cook correctly?

Lithuanian gourmets call Gyromitra esculenta national truffles. Not only Lithuanians enjoy eating these mushrooms, but also Scandinavians, Italians, Canadians, Estonians, and Belarusians. Germans and Poles do not collect Gyromitra esculenta - they consider them poisonous.
Gyromitra esculenta - although very fragrant, raw mushrooms are poisonous, they must be properly cooked - the active ingredient gyromitrin in them causes poisoning.
Although potentially fatal if eaten raw, Gyromitra esculenta is a popular delicacy in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and the upper Great Lakes region of North America.
