Vote on Safe Streets grant to come after raid
The Baltimore City Board of Estimates is expected to vote Wednesday on accepting $3.6 million from the state for the Safe Streets program. The grant comes in the wake of an FBI raid on the home of Safe Streets supervisor David Caldwell that coincidently happened the same day federal agents searched the Belair-Edison Safe Streets location. But funding for Safe Streets -- which comes from a mix of state and city money -- has been in question even before the FBI raid. Some Baltimore City Council members are questioning how the millions are spent.
