Our Infertility Story - 3 Years - IUIs, IVF, Heartbreak, and Pregnancy!

For a lucky few, it happens right away. For others, it can take years or sadly, never.

We began trying to conceive in February 2016, and like most young-ish couples, we thought it would happen right away. When a few months turned into a year, and one year turned into two, we knew something was wrong. I began fertility testing and to our disappointment, the doctors could not figure out why we were having trouble conceiving. "Unexplained infertility," they said. I did fertility acupuncture, every holistic diet-change and exercise program possible for pregnancy, and still we had no success.

We started fertility treatment in October 2018, and we had two failed IUIs. The doctor told us there was a strong probability that my endometriosis was blocking the passage of my eggs to my uterus, so we moved straight to egg retrieval for IVF (in vitro fertilization). Our doctor warned us about drop off in numbers from the beginning, so we braced ourselves for the lowest probability. We ended up with five 5-day blastocysts which we decided to freeze. Unfortunately, my ovaries became overstimulated during the egg retrieval process so we had to skip the fresh transfer and wait at least one month to try a frozen cycle.

We did a frozen embryo transfer in March 2019 and we waited the longest week of our lives until our beta blood test to see if it worked.
