Coup leader Paul-Henri Damiba declares himself president of Burkina Faso
Damiba deposed and detained President Roch Kabore last week amid public anger at his failure to tackle attacks from militant groups. The takeover prompted widespread condemnation, including the Africa Union, which suspended the country on Monday. This is days after the regional economic block ECOWAS suspended Burkina Faso and warned of more sanctions.
