What is reverted gear train?
Reverted Gear Train
When the axes of the first gear (i.e. first driver) and the last gear (i.e. last driven or follower) are co-axial, then the gear train is known as reverted gear trainas shown in Fig. We see that gear 1 (i.e. first driver) drives the gear 2 (i.e. first driven or follower) in the opposite direction.
What are the 4 types of gear train?
1) Simple gear train. 2) Compound gear train. 3) Reverted gear train. 4) Planetary or epicyclic gear train.
What is the concept of gear train?
A gear train consists of a combination of two or more gears, mounted on rotating shafts, to transmit torque or power. A compound gear train will have more than one gear fixed to some of the shafts.
Why are reverted gear trains used?
The reverted gear train offers several advantages: Compact Design: Due to its unique configuration, the reverted gear train can be accommodated between co-axial shafts, making it suitable for space-constrained applications.
What is the ratio of a reverted gear train?
A simple reverted gear train consists of two shafts each of which carry multiple compound spur gears. A compound gear consists of two gears of different pitch diameters attached to one another. This reverted gear train consists of 4 double spur gears each with a gear ratio of 3:1.
What are the 7 types of gears?
Types of Gears | KHK Gear Manufacturer
Types of Gears
Spur Gear. Gears having cylindrical pitch surfaces are called cylindrical gears. ...
Helical Gear. Helical gears are used with parallel shafts similar to spur gears and are cylindrical gears with winding tooth lines. ...
Gear Rack. ...
Bevel Gear. ...
Spiral Bevel Gear. ...
Screw Gear. ...
Miter Gear. ...
Worm Gear.
What are 2 uses of gear train?
Planetary gear train (PGT) has been widely used in the transmissions of helicopters, automobiles, wind turbine, aircraft engines, etc. The main advantages of this transmission are its high efficiency, its compactness, its large transmission ratio and its large power-to-weight ratio, etc.
Why is it called a gear train?
A gear train consists of a combination of two or more gears, mounted on rotating shafts, to transmit torque or power. A compound gear train will have more than one gear fixed to some of the shafts.
How to calculate gear ratio?
The calculation uses the number of teeth in the ring gear and divides it by the number of teeth in the pinion gear to provide you with a “[result] to 1” ratio. For example, if the pinion gear has 41 teeth, and the ring gear has 11 teeth, the ratio would be calculated as 41/11, which is equal to 3.73 = 3.73:1.
What is a gearbox ratio?
gear ratio = rotations of a driver gear : rotations of a driven gear. For every rotation of the 45-tooth gear, the 15-tooth gear must rotate 3 times. This is true no matter how many times the 45-tooth gear rotates. The ratio between the rotations of the 15-tooth driver gear and the 45-tooth driven gear is 3 to 1.
Where are reverted gear trains used?
The reverted gear trains are used in automotive transmissions, lathe back gears, industrial speed reducers, and clocks.
