Threaded vs Stem Casters

Shelving Inc presents: The Difference Between Threaded and Stem Casters

All of the threaded casters come standard with brakes. On the other hand, our stem casters can be purchased with or without brakes.

Threaded casters fit SI brand shelving at 12 threads/inch. That's the same as our leveling feet, which is why you can interchange them with no problem.

Stem casters are named for the solid stem that fits into the post bottom. They are also called universal casters because they fit into standard 1" diameter posts.

To install stem casters, make sure there aren't any connectors blocking the opening. For instance, our posts have the threaded insert in the way. After removing that, simply insert the plug into the bottom of the post. You may need to tap it into place with a rubber mallet.

The major difference is that the stem caster isn't coming out anytime soon, but I can easily remove the threaded caster without any tools.

We have these casters available in rubber (for outdoor use) or polyurethane (for indoor use). They also come in multiple sizes, each with a different weight rating.

Pick the option that will best fit your mobile storage requirements. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to customer service at www.Shelving.com
